I had a meeting in Tokyo and had a doughnut today!
For the last few months, I've been listening to the audio version of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books while carving lino. And the scene of Almanzo eating doughnuts in "Farmer Boy" was quite memorable.  So I was happy when I heard that the meeting would take place at a doughnut shop.
Of course, doughnuts in the shop were all "new-frangled round ones with a hole in the middle" and not like those that Almanzo's mother makes by twisting and doubling a stripe of dough using fingers. Apparently, the twisted dough will turn by itself in the boiling oil and saves cook's job!
