Last weekend I went to see hawk migration at Takeyama mountain in the middle of Miura peninsula in Kanagawa. It's one of the easiest places to visit to watch the autumn spectacular from Tokyo area.

It was a sunny, hot day but slightly misty. The wind direction was good, north easterly, yet it was too weak. But still we saw as many as 21 Grey-faced buzzards in a swirling kettle!

Not hawks but the best scene I saw that day was Pacific swifts swiftly flying into the view one flock after another and soaring up into the sky.  Someone counted more than 200 at a time.
