立春号

札幌の庭ビルが出している「庭しんぶん」の2月号は立春の特集。七草粥のときに描いたスケッチを表紙に使っていただいた。新聞の一面はこれまでずっと写真だったので、今回初めてのイラストの表紙なのだ！　とてもカッコ良くデザインされていて、さすが庭しんぶん。
My illustration of the seven herbs of the spring became the top of the Niiiwa newspaper for children published by Niiiwa building in Sapporo.



We make rice porridge with these seven herbs on the 7th of January, wising for good health for the year.   
七草のパックとして買ってきたものなのだが、全く均一には入っていないし、しなっとしてしまってもいて、どれがどの草なのか見極めるのに案外苦労した。セリやナズナやハコベは、花のイメージは強いけれど、まだ葉のみの状態だと、どうもイメージと違う。



立春号のついでに、節分の時に描いたものもアップ。
This is another tradition for spring in Japan, Setsubun, "seasonal division" from winter to spring, which was the third of February. We throw beans to drive the evil sprit away. Ora-chan is going to play the role of the evil sprit, my husband said.
柊鰯という節分の飾りは、その存在すら知らなかった！　
鬼役はオラちゃんね、とオランウータンの人形を指して夫が言ったので、ついへんな絵を描いてみた。本当は、チビが福豆で、鬼役のオランウータンと対決している絵を描いて欲しかったらしい……?!
