Ornithological Congress

A week long ornithological congress had finished. Thank you so much for those who drop in at our art show!  I was very pleased to have so many visitors having interest in my works.  I really enjoyed talking with ornithologists about bird researches and nature conservation.  I feel that my world got a bit wider!

Images on the left are birds in New Caledonia, Horned Parakeet (top), Fan‐tailed Gerygone taking out Shining Bronze-Cuckoo's chick (left) and New Caledonian Crow trying to break the shell (right). These are on the abstract book of the Japan Ornithological Congress.

Images o the right are lino prints of Japanese endemic species, Copper Pheasant (left), Brown-eared Bulbul (top) and Okinawa Rails (bottom) for the program book of the IOC.

I also exhibited the Japanese Murrelet painting I made for the wildlife exhibition in July and that one found a new home in the US during the congress!  I was so happy because the gentleman who liked it  very much was actually a seabird researcher.

Below are the other four artists' corners.

Yoshitaka Minowa's corner. He is very famous for scientific bird illustrations and the author and illustrator of a Seabird identification handbook published from Bunichi-sogo publisher.

Satoshi Kawaguchi's corner. He is really into birds' anatomy and running a series of article in BIRDER magazine.

Michiko Shigehara's corner.  She is very much interested in bird migration and illustrated books about bird migration by Dr. Higuchi.

Tamaki Shimosaka's corner. She is a researcher of Habouki, the feather brushes used in Chanoyu (Japanese tea ceremony).

    1. Thank you, Colin! I was very happy and pleased about the art show, indeed! Very good number of people visited our show including a gentleman from the Seabird Drawing Course 2012! I was so happy to see him again in Tokyo.
