セントポール島へ・再び

I had another chance to fly to St. Paul Island, Alaska this year as a tour conductor and translator.  Among Japanese birders, the island is "a place to go once in a life time" and here I was heading there for the second time in my life!



The birding program began from the very first afternoon we arrived in Anchorage.  No time to waste!

White-crowned Sparrows were everywhere along the coastal path.

I was very tired after the long flight but the orange sky from the hotel window was more attractive than the bed.



翌日のフライトでセントポール島へ。

Hello again, St. Paul Island!
今年はセントポール島が発見された7月12日の聖パウロの日に島に滞在できた。当日、「今日は祝日だからお店がやっていない」と言われた以外に何も実感がなかったのはちょっと残念だが、町や教会では行事が行われていたのだろうか。もしかしたら帰りの飛行機に神父さんのような方が乗っていらしたのは、その関係かもしれない。
