Taman Negara

Taman Negara is the only national park in the Peninsular Malaysia. I took a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Tembeling and went up the Tembeling river by boat with engine.



タマンヌガラはフタバガキ科を優占種とする低地雨林だ。フタバガキ科……と思い調べてみたら、なんと前に「バドミントンのシャトルみたい」と描いた実がフタバガキ科の植物のものであることが判明した。フタバガキという和名も、「柿のような実に羽のようながくが2枚ついている」ことからきているらしい。

Bird Park

I visited Taman Burung, a bird park in Kuala Lumpur. Birds are in a huge cage, flying freely such that visiters can enjoy virtual birding!



Oriental Pied Hornbill♀
サイチョウは、さすがに巨大ケージに放し飼いにしておくわけにはいかないのか、個別のケージに入れられていた。ドアップで見ると、やっぱりへんな顔。これが森に生息しているのだと思うと不思議だ。



An Indian peafowl male was courting desperately. But...female was unconcerned.

鮮果汁

Coconut Juice
果汁とともに、果肉まで楽しめるココナッツ。東南アジアの人がおおらかなのは、待っていればおいしい果物が降ってくる、と思っているからに違いない。トロピカルフルーツを食べていると、なんだか幸せだ。



フルーツジュースの屋台。指差した果物をミカンもスターフルーツも、丸ごとそのままミキサーにかけてくれる。確かに鮮果汁！　

Heritage

I stayed at the Heritage Station Hotel, which is adjacent to the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. Every senery in the hotel was perfect for a picture.




Restaurant and pub. The hotel was built during the colonial period.



The closet in the room had such an unusual shape of decoration that I couldn't help sketching it.

Selamat pagi

I came back from the trip to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand　last night. It was the first oversea trip that I planned and paid by myself ...almost.


Petronas Twin Tower

空港から市内に入ったとき、バスで郊外から戻ってきたとき、ツインタワーを見るとクアラルンプールに近づいたことを実感した。

『遷移（succession）』
10月末に行った奥多摩ロープウェイの川野駅跡。連作にできたら、と思ったけれど時間がなくて断念。少なくとも国公立展には間に合った！

I painted this picture on a sheet of cardboard with pastels and water colors.

国公立展５４
東京の国公立大学１１校による合同展。今年のテーマは"色"。各校ごとにイメージカラーが決まっています。
日時：2008年3月4日（火）～9日（日）　10:00～18:00（初日は12時～、最終日は17時まで）
場所：目黒区美術館　区民ギャラリー
参加大学：一橋大学、東京大学、学芸大学、東京外国語大学、東京農工大学、海洋大学、東京医科歯科大学、お茶の水女子大学、電気通信大学、東京工業大学、首都大学東京。

Young探鳥会

月曜日に葛西臨海公園で行われたYoung探鳥会に参加してきた。野鳥の会東京支部が主催の40代以下の若手バーダーが対象のイベントだ。



印象に残った３種。なかなか"良い鳥"がたくさん出た。久しぶりに鳥をのんびり見た気がする。

I joined a birdwatching event for young people（under 40 years old） on Monday. When I went to the meeting place, I was surprised to find a crowd of young people with a pair of binoculars. I heard that 56 people participated in the event that day. It was really a good opportunity to make birder friends of my generation.

『正月気分』
Remains of the New Year's holidays, which I found during the birds research in Tama river in January of last year. I drew this picture for the "sophomore exhibition", now exhibited at Meguro kumin gallery.

首都圏の大学２年生による美術展。５０校以上、１５０人以上の参加。すごい大規模です。

キック、キック、トントン

Waking up at 6 o'clock, I looked out of the window to find there totally white.



たとえ集中講義を受けに行くのであっても、雪の上を歩けるのはうれしい。踏みしめるとミシッミシッという雪の感触にうきうき歩いていたせいか、「楽しそうだなあ」と近所のおじさんに笑われた。見慣れた道が銀世界に変わっただけで、普段は話さない人が思わず声をかけてくる。雪の力は不思議だ。

大学の校舎前にぽつんとたたずんでいた。誰が作ったんだろう。

二十歳

January 14th was the Coming-of-Age Day. Those who became twenty attended the ceremony. Most of the girls wore a kimono with long sleeves, and I wore a beautiful salmon pink kimono, which my birder friend kindly lent me.



成人式。振袖を着てまでわたしはちゃっかり絵を描いていた。もちろんペンや水彩を使う危険は冒さず、シャーペンを使いました。ご安心ください。



横浜アリーナはあまりに広すぎて、あまりに人がいて誰かを見つけられる状態ではなかった。しかも振袖に白いモコモコ、爆発したような髪型。たとえすれ違っても気づかなかったかもしれない。それでも数人、懐かしい顔を見つけてうれしかった。
