When I was in Hokkaido, it was the best season for autumnal colour.

It was a woodland of white birch and I wished that I could draw the white trunk by carving lino instead of trying hard to leave it white with water colour brush.
I always find many things and scenery I want to make paintings or prints during trips. But the sad reality is that when I go back home, there are jobs, which I need to catch up with, are sure to be waiting for me and by the time I finish them all, the creative energy is somewhat lower.
Sketching on the spot is good because I can certainly draw when I am passionate about the object or scenery. But then I am restricted with the media and time I use.

Such beautiful autumn colours, Ting. We drove through the woodland roads around Minsmere on Sunday - plenty of colour there, too, though our clocks have gone back an hour and it gets dark so early now.
