夏の風物詩

This evening while working on a book project, I heard the summer festival music through the window.  I couldn't resist but going out with my sketchbook.



今日は近所の公園のお祭りだった。子ども騙しみたいな祭りなのだけれど、「月が出た出た」と聞くと、ついワクワクしてきて、スケッチブックを持って出かけてしまう。
本当ならほぼ満月に近いはずだけれど、生憎曇っていて、本物の月は見えなかった。

明日は台風だという。祭りの後、すぐに提灯などの飾りは撤去しないといけないのだろう。

ついでに少し前に描いた夏のスケッチ。



This was the decoration I made for the star festival, 7th of July.  We write our wishes on coloured paper and hung them from a bamboo.  
新居は玄関の靴箱の上に素敵なスペースがあるので、そしてこの夏は短冊に書きたい願いもあったので、七夕飾りを作ってみた。笹は実家の小さな庭になぜかひょっこり生えてきてしまったもの。



Another summer drawing, plums being dried for Umeboshi pickles at my mum's. Those little plums are from small trees that my cousin planted.
今年は母がたくさん梅干しを作ってくれているので、とても楽しみ！
